Orientation was...interesting. Our OL's were kind of cranky and had horrific time-management skills (EVERY OTHER GROUP but ours did tons of fun things - went around to the DC museums, like the Hirschorn [sp?], and they even got to ride that crazy merry-go-round we have in DC. We, on the other hand, spent an entire day sitting around on the grass, because while we were supposed to do "group activities" and get a "behind-the-scenes walking tour of DC", our OL's thought we "looked more comfortable" just sitting around...doing nothing....literally watching grass grow for 3 hours straight.
Anyway, the fun part was that I got to meet a bunch of awesome awesome people. I haven't met anyone yet that I wasn't able to get along with really well, and that's saying a lot given how ridiculously antisocial I was during high school. I know it's only been 4 days, but I spent 4 years in my school with basically the same people the entire way through, and I barely got to know anyone. I think I'm rapidly building up a reputation as a the class idiot, though. On my way there - despite having been to the museum part of the institution like FIVE TIMES at least - I spent a good hour wandering around DC because I got so heinously lost. Plus, I'm constantly tripping over pretty much nothing, forgetting all my stuff everywhere, losing things, wandering around the hallways/streets completely lost, and basically just being utterly hapless. Someone almost always seems to feel the need to escort me all the way to the Metro station when I'm on my way home just to make sure I don't explode or something on the way there. Hahaha.
The one thing I don't like about the city is that there are a lot of sketchy-looking individuals wandering around. There are a lot of interesting hobos in the city. I was walking to my friend's housing unit the other day so we could drop off our stuff, and this one guy had one of those handmade cardboard signs. But instead of the usual description of his misfortunes and a request for help, his sign read: "HOW MANY CHILDREN HAVE U EATEN TODAY MR. OBAMA? CONFESS U BRUTE!!!"
Yeah. I got a kick out of that. Oh, Obama! What a crazy cannibal, eating kids all over the place!
Anyway, my schedule's pretty crazy. I've got a class evvvvery sinnngle weekday. Mondays will be especially fun - I've got class from 1:30PM-9:00PM, since on registration day I added a Humanities class onto my course load. And it takes around an hour for me to get to school, and another to come back, so that's basically nine or so hours of the day. Fortunately, my school schedule also fits in pretty well with my work schedule, so that's convenient, I guess.
Ohhh, and the art supply store close to the school is BEAST. omg. They have so much awesome stuff, and we get good student discounts. Plus we all got free goodie bags when we stopped by to check the place out, with free sketchbooks and Prismacolor pens and markers and some other things.
But anyway, yeah. Overall the school itself seems grungy, but really relaxed. And given how much crap I've got going on right now, that's just what I need.

Oh my god, that homeless guy with the Obama sign reminds me of the Robot Chicken skit where a reanimated Walt Disney eats Cuban boys and journeys all the way to Cuba to eat Elián Gonzales.
I don't even know my schedule yet.

So far it sounds pretty awesome, are you living at home? why does it take an hour to get to school?
Oh, and those "sketchy-looking individuals" are probably just politicians, don't worry about it, XD.
Its pretty neat that you got some pretty neat (and nice quality) free stuff from the art store, and it sounds like u've made friends already!
Sweet, so what classes are you taking this semester?
